The Shack . . .

A must read . . . a fiction book that spoke to me louder than any other book I have EVER read. I won't ruin the story for you, but will encourage you that you will walk away from this book KNOWING Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit more than you have before.

Here are a few simple yet profound quotes from the book:

We judge all the time, but we should judge as Jesus does which says you’re worthy of love even if costs me everything.

Your independence with its quest for power and fulfillment actually destroys the relationship your heart longs for. You were given the 10 Commandments so you would give up trying to be righteous on your own – it was a mirror to reveal how filthy face gets when you live independently.

It is the KNOWING that grows and LOVE expands to contain it – love is just the skin of knowing.

It should be very freeing to know you can offer us (Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit) nothing. . . that should alleviate any pressure to perform.

Life and living is in Him and no other . . process that takes you to the living answer and once you get to him, he will change you from the inside.

Grace doesn’t depend on suffering to exist – just because I work indescribable good out of unspeakable tragedies doesn’t mean I orchestrated the tragedies. All evil flows from independence – your choice if I revoked all choice, the world would cease to exist as you know it and love would have no meaning. The world in not a playground where keep children free from evil– it touches all – if I take away the consequences of people’s choices, I destroy the possibility of love and love that is forced is not love . . .

I know if it takes 47 times before you hear me (which means you agree with me and are ready to change) that each time is like a building block for building the bridge of healing to one day walk across.
